Winter Weddings: Dress to Impress!

Dressing for weddings are hard. But add in things like: winter, black-tie, and no date? (Projecting here… guess who is attending one later this month?) Things only continue to get messier, like a girl enjoying her 3rd Cosmo at an open bar affair. Fear not though, because here are some fun ideas for winter wedding outfits. Personally, I prefer planning for these outings because you can play more with color, fabric choices, and texture. In scouring the internet, here are some of my choices for your next big appearance. I’m providing a straight size and plus size option by dress code, so grab your favorite seasonal drink and let’s dive in! (Click on pictures to follow through to check them out)

Black-Tie: The dreaded black-tie only invitation. I’ll admit I’ve always wanted to attend such a function, but when faced with the prospect of doing so? There’s so many choices for glamming it up in a long gown it’s easy to be overwhelmed. You can also do a dressy cocktail number, but that’s all at the bride’s discretion. My recommendation is to go for a full length gown, Rent the Runway is a great way to get an affordable gown that you can have for just a few days if you know you’ll only be wearing it once!

Straight size: try this Jill Jill Stuart Oxblood Gown, it's festive and alluring. A stunning combo.

Plus size: This Monique Lhullier gown has the most important thing: POCKETS. Plus it's regal as hell.

Formal or Black-Tie Optional: Slightly less formal than Black-tie but still pretty dressy. Here you can play around to your comfort level. You can follow the trend with a soft slip dress or try a jumpsuit with flair.

This is currently on sale! Also it's such a soft sweet color, how could you not fall in love?

I live for a great jumpsuit, plus it doubles as a great NYE outfit with some metallic heels to punch it up!

Semiformal or Dressy Casual: It’s up to your taste and comfort level but attire is dependent on the time of the event. As long as you remember the rule to shine, but not outshine the bride on her big day. Here you can play around with separates and maybe ditch the heels to dance a little longer!

You sigh, "Maya? Really? Another jumpsuit?"

Hear me out though, the sheer swiss dot pattern is

timeless. Also appropriate for any and every night to go out.

Separates for a wedding can work, this errs more on the "dressy" side of dressy casual. Pair an off the shoulder bodysuit with a skirt/pant combo for that wow factor

Now go forth and be merry! Also don’t forget to share your winter looks with me and the rest of the team at Align!
