The Woman behind the Red Lipstick

Abigail Whisnant is changing the name of the game with Align Event Company. As a waitress at Social Southern Table & Bar, Abigail has taken all she has learned from working in the restaurant industry and utilized it in her business, from table-side service to proper food set-up. Her passion for event preparation grew as she helped coordinate private events at Social and was allowed to interact with clients on a more intimate level while still executing superb customer service.

After volunteering to plan her manager Laura Gall Lognion’s ceremony two years ago, Abigail fell in love with everything wedding-related. Align Event Company was officially born after that, and Abigail hasn’t stopped since. She pushed her clientele far beyond her personal friend circle, strictly through word-of-mouth advertising. Being a self-made business woman, she finds that her biggest critic has been herself.

“I doubt myself because I’m a millennial and because I am so young compared to other event coordinators in town,” Abigail confesses. “If I’m not confident in myself, how will my client be confident in me?”

Every event she has helped coordinate has ultimately been a learning experience, and with that experience she has both gained immense knowledge in her passion and developed a sense of trust with her clients, making Align successful in its motives to meet expectations, give good service, and make people happy.

Being a native to the South, Abigail noticed a new trend developing: DIY weddings. Wedding planning has ultimately become a thing of the past. In order to keep up with the economy, brides have resorted to low-budget alternatives when preparing for their big day. From hand-made decorations to using friends as florists, this do-it-yourself culture has eliminated the need for expensive event planners.

Align Event Company is in the business of coordination rather than planning, meaning that we simply assist with the preparations of your event the week or even day of. This allows for ultimate creative expression without all the hassle.  We take on your last-minute worries so that when it comes down to the wire, you won’t feel burdened by any small, overlooked details.

Align is expanding every day, and the next step is the creation of this blog. We are looking to collaborate with local writers in order to publish original content centered around event coordinating. From seasonal recipe ideas to decorating and planning tips, Align has got you covered!
